Fencing around solar equipment, meters, and batteries ==> 100% completed
Proposal
There are a few reasons to have a fence around the solar equipment, the Oncor meter, and the batteries. These are as follows:
- The equipment is viewable from the street. In an extended grid-down scenario this could make the house a potential target for theft, etc.
- Vandalism. Many devices have switches and buttons that could be damaged or altered.
- Some of the equipment can be accessed via the Internet or WiFi by reading information off of the sides of the equipment, making them vulnerable to attack.
- Ethernet drops added for monitoring etc could be hijacked by an attacker, targeting the equipment or even the internal network.
While some of the attack scenarios are far-fetched, the first one is possible and the second one has happened once (a neighbor with drug/mental issues shut off half the solar panels at 1:00 a.m.). Therefore, fencing around the equipment is needed.
Steps to complete
-
Determine needs for electrical code requirements regarding the solar equipment and the batteries from Kosmos. -
Determine needs for Oncor to access the equipment in the event of an emergency. -
Get estimate for fence from JH Group. -
Cleanup (remove old trash can, remove bush) at side of house. -
Get fence installed.
